A Novel “Finite Element-Meshfree” Triangular Element Based on Partition of Unity for Acoustic Propagation Problems

The accuracy of the conventional finite element (FE) approximation for analysis acoustic propagation is always characterized by an intractable numerical dispersion error. With aim enhancing performance FE acoustics, a coupled FE-Meshfree method based on triangular elements proposed in this work. In new element, required local built using point interpolation mesh-free techniques with polynomial-radial basis functions, and original linear shape functions from classical are employed to satisfy condition partition unity. Consequently, possesses simultaneously strengths meshfree techniques. From number representative experiments propagation, it shown that analysis, better can be achieved suppressing error comparison approximation. More importantly, also shows features terms convergence rate computational efficiency than approach; hence, very good alternative approach existing methods acoustics fields.
